Our Country Family Breaks
The Murray Arms Hotel and Cally Estate invite you and your family to come and enjoy the very best that South West Scotland has to offer. Pack up the car, kids & dog and head for the country.
You will be welcomed at the Murray Arms Hotel & Restaurant, part of the Cally Estate since 1860, with a superb evening meal either with or without the kids, setting you up for the next couple of days.
Day 1 – take our bikes and enjoy a leisurely cycle on private tracks and minor country lanes taking in the magnificent Cally Gardens, passing the former estate mansion, Cally House, and on along the coastal track down to our own private beach, Sandgreen. Take a well earned break, perhaps a refreshing paddle in the sea and enjoy a packed lunch provided by us. On the way home drop into Cream o Galloway, the regions premier award winning visitor centre which has something for all the family (not just ice cream – wait and see!) On your return to the hotel enjoy a delightful cream tea before relaxing in a hot bubble bath to soothe away any first day aches. A relaxing dinner in our restaurant is the perfect end to your day.
Day 2 – follow our own nature trail, by bike and foot. In co-operation with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, we have designed a trail which will give you the chance to explore our private estate, gain an understanding of what happens on our farms and when, spot some of Scotland’s wildlife along the way in their natural habitat and experience views and scenery that can only be described as breathtaking. Take a break at our idyllic riverside picnic spot where we can arrange for you to be served a luxurious picnic lunch without having all the hassle of carrying it. When you have had your fill just walk (or cycle) away and we will do all the clearing up! For a unique experience in the country we can add a “hawk walk” into your package which will give your family an introduction to birds of prey and the art of falconry getting up close and personal with a couple of Harris Hawks.

- 1 hour Hawk Walk – Additional £20 per person
If you would like to stay longer with us we would be delighted to offer you preferential accommodation rates and could include your bike hire free.
