Murray Arms Hotel hosts Cyclocross Race

The Murray Arms Hotel and Restaurant are hosting a round of the Scottish Cyclocross Series on the 18th November 2007.

The series currently has events throughout Scotland but this is the first time that the series has been held in Dumfries and Galloway and it serves to widen the interest in this fast developing, highly competitive, sport.

Competitors come from far and wide and at the most recent event there were ninety entrants from all age groups.

The Murray Arms Hotel and Restaurant are working closely with the organisers to make the event a success and establish it on their annual calendar.

The course will be set up on part of the Cally Estate in the Fleet Valley and it incorporates areas of fast off road sections, lung busting short, sharp, climbs and more technical woodland sections.

For more information on Cyclocross and to get a flavour of whats in store please visit their web site http://www.cyclocrosser.co.uk/ or indeed contact Davie Graham, event organiser, phone number 07704409705.

Murray Arms Hotel links up with Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group creating family focused Eco-holiday packages (19 April 2007)

The Murray Arms Hotel is one of the first accommodation providers in Dumfries and Galloway to be involved in an initiative developed by the local Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), Linking Sustainable Farming, Tourism and Biodiversity. Customers of the hotel will be given the opportunity to follow a nature trail through the Cally Estate. They will have access to a "Farm Wildlife Box" which contains information about the farms, what happens when and why, information about the wildlife they may encounter and have the chance to follow a specially designed farm nature trail.

"It is hoped that visitors to the area gain an insight and perhaps a better understanding of the natural environment from which our farmed produce comes from."

Murray Arms Hotel links up with Determined to Succeed

We have recently joined up in partnership with Gatehouse Primary School under a local government initiative known as "Determined to Succeed". The project provides an opportunity for the local school children to gain some experience in a business first hand and also allows us to involve the children as a valued part of the local community in what we do.

Their first project has been to design our new Kids Menu - you will be pleasantly surprised with their choices!
