The Dash Farmhouse

Best place to stay in Cumbria!

Pros: We loved our stay at The Dash Farmhouse - easily the best location we have stayed. We were very excited to learn that Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci had also been in the house! It is an amazing location, so secluded with such beautiful views all around. The underfloor heating was a bonus, the kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were large and comfy. The WiFi worked well for us and we enjoyed seeing the chickens and Tony the dog. The snowdrops were out in the garden when we were there which was lovely. There was plenty of walking to do with a nearby waterfall and hills all around. We visited the Sun Inn for a drink and the Lakes Distillery for tea and cake - about 10 mins drive away - recommend both. We will definitely be back to stay again in the coming years.

Cons: This by all means didn’t ruin our experience but on one of the days there were renovations going on in what looks like a cottage attached to the side of the property. We were just a bit gutted to have come to such a tranquil location and hear the sound of drilling on and off from 9:30am. It was only one day though and we just spent more time out walking and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Just wanted to give people a heads up in case this is ongoing in the near future as I think we were more disappointed as it came as a surprise. Fingers crossed it was just a one off!

Beautiful and cosy winter stay

Pros: A stunning location under Skiddaw. The house was very warm and comfortable despite freezing conditions outside. Fantastic walking from the door, with the open land to the back of the house giving great options off established paths. A memorable experience in a beautiful part of Cumbria.

Pros: Friendly, helpful and welcoming owners. Lovely cosy and comfortable farmhouse, set in beautiful surroundings. Excellent WiFi.

Exceeded all expectations with outstanding views

Pros: This property exceeded all our expectations. The views & location are perfect. If you are looking for peace, quiet & family time this is the place for you. We will be back

Cons: Nothing, this property is the best place we have ever stayed

Blissful

Pros: The location was so romantic. From the road, you drive down a single track Farm driveway, opening and closing gates for the car on your way, to keep the sheep from wandering between fields. If narrow roads put you off, maybe it isn't for you though!

Cons: Only the wi-fi, which didn't reach across the property well. Also note that you may not get a standard mobile signal, although of course this is nothing which the host can do anything about.

A quiet place to relax in the northern Lake District

Pros: Fantastic view of Lake District hill and waterfall. The house is the only one in the valley on the northern side of Skiddaw and is very quiet with no traffic noise. A wild flower meadow immediately in front of it is full of insects.and is used by a hare. Well equipped kitchen and enormous bath. It is an old building which is full of character.

It’s a reset ! Total peace .. the most stunning views

Amazing views - quiet farmhouse stay

Pros: Absolutely amazing views. Quiet farmhouse stay in beautiful surroundings. Kids loved the sheep and chickens. Nice walk to the waterfall.

Cons: Frying pan and other utensils should be changed. Cleaning could be better but otherwise all was perfect!
