Hillingworth's Hot Tub Retreat - Lochmaben

Peaceful and relaxing.

Pros: Nice hot tub and the surroundings are quiet and relaxing. Mentioned it was my boyfriend’s birthday and they were kind enough to get a balloon for him! Which was so sweet and he loved it.

Cons: The chemicals used in the hot tub were abit too strong I think made our skin itchy and red but we just got some cream and it soothed it after. The bowls/mugs hadn’t been cleaned properly from previous guests but we just gave them a clean before we used them.

Amazing break

Pros: Caravan was beautiful and so well equipped, towels, washing up/cleaning stuff, toilet roll ect. Hosts were on hand to answer any questions over the phone. We had a great couple of days away hot tub was definitely a hit, really enjoyed the nice peacefulness of the site. Toddler was thrilled with the fact that it was all enclosed so he got lots of freedom without worry he'd get lost. Will definitely book again but for longer.

Cons: The only thing we didn't like was having to leave to come home.

Cute cosy caravan getaway

Pros: We enjoyed our stay at this cosy caravan. The property was quite spacious and clean. The hot tub was the highlight of our stay. Remote enough to feel like an escape while also being connected to Dumfries

Would definitely return

Pros: Cosy caravan get away and is perfect for a couple! The location is great for nature walks. My partner and I walked to the nearest town which only took us around 15 minutes. Perfect if you are looking for a cosy weekend away. Hot tub was also fab.

A lovely place to relax and enjoy nature

Pros: The location is fantastic for outdoor activities and walks in the area. The accommodation is not a cabin, it is a static caravan in a caravan park, which we didn't mind at all and enjoyed a lot. The hot tub was the jewel of this place, fantastic feature to enjoy after a walk and just relax. The caravan was very spacious, kitchen was fully equipped with everything you may need. Heating was fine too. Free parking just outside the caravan. Peaceful and beautiful! We really enjoyed our stay!

Cons: Not a deal breaker, but it did leave a bad impression - most of the breakfast bows and plates were not very clean, all needed washing before use. The shower also was not pristine clean, don't get me wrong, still very very clean and lovely place, just a couple of things that might have been overlooked. There was no hair dryer, quite surprising for the price of the place! We weren't bothered as we do a lot of walking/exploring, but just to mention there are no shops/restaurants in close proximity, closest ones are in Lochmaben village, which was like 15 min walk away.

Great little place

Pros: Immaculate and everything you need right down to cleaning supplies, shower gel, and even some games to play. Loved the small touches like the candle, and the smell inside was delightful. Non-smoking and pet friendly reflect this. Having the plastic glasses were great for sitting outside. Comfortable and quiet surroundings. The hot tub was amazing...especially as our weather was fantastic. We took a drive to the local town, which was not far away, and picked up some essentials from a local Tesco. We stayed two nights, and the price was absolutely fantastic, considering it was an Easter Sunday and Monday. Could not fault anything at all and would definitely return. Seen reviews complaining about the WiFi, which didn't bother us as we were there to stay off our devices.

Pros: Property was immaculate. Comfy and has all you need for a short stay. The hot tub was an added bonus. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Cons: No WiFi. Not essential on our trip (as we brought a couple of board games and watched the TV) but if staying longer than 1 night with children, would be ideal especially if you are also looking to get out and about and want to do a bit of roaming, having WiFi would make it easier to research on your phone/tablet. Not a complaint but the 4pm check in and 10:30 check out was a bit disappointing if only staying the one night. Would have been fine if maybe staying for 2 or 3 nights. Felt like we didn't have a lot of time in the property, but can understand maybe to do with cleaning schedules.
