Oak Lea

A great place to stay for our lakeland holiday..

Pros: Oak Lea is in a beautiful location at the top of a small village, with views of hills. Scenic walks are immediately accessible. We enjoyed watching local wildlife, including red squirrels visiting the nut-feeder in the garden --- which the owner kindly refilled when we arrived. We also enjoyed visiting the art gallery and cafe in the village. There's a bus stop only a few minutes' walk away, and it's just a 12 minute ride into Keswick with its many attractions.

Cons: Turning in the parking space is a little awkward, but we soon got used to it. There's not a lot of space in the bedrooms and bathroom, but we adapted easily enough.

Pros: The location was at the end of a lane right next to the bridleway that goes up to Whinlatter Forest visitors centre. Very quite and amongst nature. Lovely. The host was very helpful and friendly.

Cons: Nothing.

Great location for retreat from the Lake District crowds at the end of each day!

Pros: We loved the location, up at the end of the valley, dead end for cars, but access to Whinnlater Forest on foot or bicycle.

Cons: A bicycle store is available tho down four quite steep steps, we needed both of us to manage each e-bike up and down. Otherwise all good.

Excellent

Pros: Lovely cottage located in a beautiful and quiet place.
