Pros: We wanted a quiet weekend away from it all with our dog and Granite House was perfect. The property is snug but it has everything you need and every room has been done to a good standard. Walking out of the back gate and into the adjacent field you have a wide open dog run which our boy loved. There can be sheep in this field but pass through a small metal gate you are sheep free and down by the river. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return when time allows.

Very comfortable stay
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again in the future. The property had pretty much everything you'd need for a few days away. It was well presented and, for the most part, very clean. There were a few essentials left in kitchen cupboards too. The hosts were excellent and sent through lots of information a day or so before our stay. What wasn't clear on the advert is that the property is all on one level, so is quite accessible. We found the property no problem, but the rear access to the back door is quite dark. Take a torch! There are plenty of walks in the area and many places to visit only a short drive away.
Cons: Previous guests had left cookware dirty in the kitchen draws. All laundered items (sheets and towels) were covered in what looked like black pet hairs.

Comfortable stay, quiet location
Pros: We had a comfy and warm stay, bed was very comfortable we slept like logs. Plenty of storage throughout out, cleaning products available, clean towels, extra blankets if needed. Loved the little potted real Christmas tree, dog treats, biscuits and chocolates left for us, thoughtful touch. Easy check in and out using key safe. Perfect location and quiet
Cons: Floors and cuddle chair had visable dirt, my husband swept this up on our arrival, and some cobwebs visable, kitchen lights dimmed when using the kettle and hallway lights, bathroom sink drained slowly, unable to turn switch off at beside due to the switch being stuck, no glass shelf above veg drawer in fridge, freezer compartment was ice over unable to put anything in. Kitchen sink plug didnt close when pushing down, so had to wash the dishes in running water. No parking outside, we had to park down the street, due to residents using they layout opposite the property and having dont park outside signs on their fences

Great stay for meteor shower!
Pros: Cosy, quiet, clean and stocked with all the basics. Fantastic value and good information packet too. Owners left great instructions of how to find too. Saw the Genemede meteor shower from the bench in the back garden while barn owls swooped around, lovely!

Pros: It was lovely & quiet as we had our dog with us who is very scared of fireworks so wanted somewhere away from that kind of noise. Very cosy & quaint, lovely shower room, bedroom & neat small kitchen, smart TV meant we could sign in to our own netflix & prime TV .. had a lovely chilled time.
Cons: Plug in the sink didn't work properly so didn't keep water in sink when trying to fill to do dishes, would have been handy to have had a basin, plus no pop up toaster so had to always put low oven grill on just to do toast. But when I told owners they did say theyd take that onboard. Also had to walk round to back of house to get in key box & area quite grassy & muddy as it had been raining a lot so full of puddles, again owners when I explained this to them said they d take that onboard.

Pros: Accommodation was superb. Very comfortable and warm. Facilities were excellent. Very welcoming, shortbread and chocolates a lovely touch. Views of the Rhins of Kells stunning, and property ideally situated for dark skies. Lots to see and do being situated near New Galloway forest. Walked our dog round Kenmore Castle. Stunning with excellent views of Loch Ken. Castle Douglas was our go to for provisions with lovely park for a stroll with our dog. Granite Cottage very relaxing and a perfect place to reset and recharge our batteries.

Cosy atmosphere, quiet location, a nice getaway. Would come back.
Pros: Location, decoration, tidiness. Really good instructions, great price, cosy atmosphere. Shower was nice and warms, bedroom was dark and bed was comfortable.
Cons: Could do with a recycling bin and a bin in the bathroom somewhere.
