Mossdale

Pros: So much to like about Mossdale - beautiful location just 1 minute from pretty beach, exceptionally quiet location, beautiful scenery and friendly locals. Quirky old house with huge rooms (except the kitchen), very comfy beds, excellent shower, super-effient wood burner and excellent modern electric radiators. Well equipped kitchen and utility room. Great location if you like walking, discovering castles, beaches, tea shops and pretty villages. Make sure to visit the fabulous farm shop at Beeswing and the Ark cafe at Kippford. Communication from owner was excellent when there was a problem with the cooker, which he tried very hard to resolve.

Cons: No parking at the house. Oct - March you can park at the beach car-park, 1 minute from house but April to September there's a 20 minute limit (although apparently only 3 traffic wardens in the whole of Dumfries and Galloway). Otherwise its a 5 minute walk to the main free carpark. The kitchen is small, with very little worktop space and we struggled a bit with 4 adults using it. It's an old house and a few bits await renovation, so still a few draughty windows and creaky doors. Understand further work planned over the winter. Instructions should state turn right at the beach car-park (we turned at the main car-park and got quite confused). But far more positives than negatives - we would happily visit again.

great place, big rooms . we managed with parking as man next door let us park in front of his garage but could be tricky

Pros: spacious, very warm , every conceivable thing you needed .

Cons: absolutely zikch parking at the house
