Belmont retreat is a beaut.

Pros: The cottage is attractive. Interior is very pleasant. Artwork on walls is interesting and suits the rooms. Location is good for town and wider area. Lovely garden. Quiet location off the main road. WiFi throughout. Friendly atmosphere and friendly landlords.

Great place to stay if you don’t need to use the bathroom in the night.

Pros: Quiet, easy walk into Dumfries. Easy to drive to places nearby. Lovely gardens.Friendly owners.

Cons: We knew on booking that the bathroom and toilet were downstairs, but it was a disadvantage for ladies of our age in the night or indeed for anyone who needs the toilet more than once in the night.The stairs were very handily automatically lit at night when used, but the floorboards creaked and it became a real effort.
