Excellent location, service, food and comfort.

Pros: We loved everything about our stay. The location is incredible. The property itself was cosy & comfortable. The pub/restaurant next door had an open fire, an excellent section of drinks and the food was absolutely delicious. We had our evening meal there & breakfast, and both were highly rated. We also got a parking space (two cars) no problem, though the car park was getting busy after we arrived.

Cons: Nothing! There wasn’t a pub dog or cat but there is a horse on the land and a robin outside of our window 🙂

Pros: Wonderful room with view of Mellbreak. Nicely appointed and presented. Easy to keep warm despite cold weather. Clean and comfortable. Cheerful friendly very helpful staff. Efficient management at every level. Good quality, substantial breakfast, with options like omelettes. Wide range of beers including draught local ale. Great bar food. We enjoyed generous size fish and chips, and fall off the bone lamb shank. Delicious! Dined there each of our three nights. A big thank you for a welcome winter break. The location. We walked the length of Crummock Water and Loweswater in brilliant sunny winter weather surrounded by an array of snow capped peaks.

Cons: The only slight shortcoming was rather low water pressure for the luxury walk in shower. It was nice and hot but a more powerful jet of water would have been welcome.

Pros: Bed in room 8 was devine. Room was tired, needed a bit of TLC, but if you want a bed that gives you a sublime sleep, it gave just that.

Cons: Bathroom, needs an update especially the tiles. Outside area is beautiful just put some creosote on the tables n benches, it would really lift it, as spectacular views.

Excellent pub for walkers.

Pros: Lots of character, good team of staff, splendid location, traditional pub food and great beer. Just what you want from a pub for break walking in the Lake District.

Cons: We stayed in 2 different rooms and the second one, (room 7), really was too small and the shower too feeble. Both rooms had great views though.
