Pros: All The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us welcome? The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. And the beds were really comfy.

Cons: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like

Pros: The room was spacious and well furnished with everything we needed (except a cafetière for coffee!). We have never had such a room with such a wonderful view, double-aspect even, of the River Derwent (in full spate!). The public rooms were clean and well decorated. We enjoyed our dinners. The duck in a red wine jus was particularly delicious. Breakfast includes healthy options, such as plain yogurt and fresh fruit salad, and the hot food is freshly cooked to order. The garden outside and terrace are well kept andd a great place to sit on sunny afternoons.

Cons: Breakfast coffee should be better quality. We favour individual cafetières. Very helpful and friendly staff. Would have appreciated a word on the fact that some maintenance is underway as there are damp patches on some of the walls. No doubt this relates to the floods and so is very understandable in a town both blessed and cursed with abundant water supply. Also disappointed not to have any WiFi in the room (no 107) - we could not even see the network on any of our devices.(We were able to get WiFi at reception). One of your staff team, a young woman with dark hair, was very solicitous and came to our room to try to resolve the issue. She was unsuccessful but top marks for trying.

Comfortable room ,lovely location, great Tapas Terrace Bar, main restaurant a little chaotic though

Pros: Lovely location next to the river and the Terrace Tapas Bar was excellent. Staff generally friendly and helpful

Cons: The lounge restaurant seemed a little chaotic and it was very busy. We waited some time for our meal

Pros: We had such a great Thursday-Sunday stay. Staff are lovely. Bed is comfortable and rooms are clean.

Cons: Only one minor thing to highlight.. over a bank holiday weekend when the hotel is at full capacity, breakfast times should be stretched a little longer to prevent staff rushing about, food running out and to allow a smoother flow.

We come to Cockermouth first time we stayed but won't be the last excellent

Pros: staff at desk believe surname Ellis and the waiter now sure of his name only know he had worked around 22 year went over and above to accommodate all of our needs, having mobility problems (on walking stick) helped all they could to make stay excellent

Cons: possibly a more varied special menu, we stayed five nights so same special menu
