The Lodge In The Vale

Pros: The lodge in the vale is great. It was our second stay and we had just as good experience as the first time we stayed. Welcoming and helpful staff. Good and relaxed atmosphere, just what we needed for our walking holiday. Really appreciated that it is dog friendly

Pros: Amazing place to stay, staff so friendly, breakfast is so spectacular in the sister hotel, well worth the deposit, they treat you like royalty, made me, my family and dog so welcome. Will be definitely recommend and visit this year.

Excellent value for money stay in a quiet spot in the lake district

Pros: The welcome from the staff was lovely, very friendly and chatty and couldn't do enough. The room was lovely and had everything i needed for my stay. The coffee shop was fantastic - the cheese scone was to die for and the date and oat slice was delicious. the location was perfect for what i wanted - to be able to set off on my walks without having to drive anywhere - and the lodge kindly let me leave my car after to check out on Sunday so i could walk and pick it up when i returned (and also go in the coffee shop and buy a hot drink and a cake before heading home!!)

Cons: There was a continental breakfast, but it didn't start until after i wanted to be out of the lodge in the morning - this isn't a criticism and i expected this, but just in case anyone else is thinking of getting up and walking early take your own breakfast food. There were no evening meals, again i expected this, and went to eat at the sister pub down the road, and the food there (kings head inn) was excellent. The only other point (and again, not a criticism) is that the room doors were very noisy to close. It wasn't so bad when you were inside the room as you could put the handle down, but when trying to close quietly from outside so as not to disturb others it was difficult. My solution was to keep the key in the lock and turned so that the door was more quiet.

Positive with minor tweaks

Pros: Convenience and great feel to that place. I could hike straight from the door.

Cons: A little shabby in places. Rusty radiator and chipped laminate flooring in places.

Cons: Heat control in room - didn't realise skylight opened and heater was either on or off - no temperature control.

Simple clean friendly hotel ! Perfect !

Cons: I didn’t like the roof window in my room that I couldn’t see out of. Made the room feel very claustrophobic.

Pros: I stayed in a standard room which was big enough for me and my dog, room clean and staff very helpful. Value for money 10….the location is great if you have a car or you want to do some hikes near by.
