Pros: Food and staff plus location despite the continuing refurbishment work being carried out did not impact our stay

Cons: Bed should be a king size mattress soft service of the room could have been better ie replacement of water and milk/tbags/toilet rolls

Lovely comfortable hotel with a lot of charm.

Pros: Lovely hotel and friendly staff. We were given a large room but asked if we could change it to one with a view if possible, which they did . It was very clean and comfortable.

Pros: A lovely and grand historical hotel, with very friendly and informative staff, ample parking, at a quiet and peaceful location, with distant views of the ocean. The room was spacious and well furnished, with a very comfortable bed. Would gladly return in future.

Pros: The location is great for a base to see all the rest of the Lake District. The view from the hotel is really nice as you can see the sea. The staff were really helpful and friendly although there are some that need to buck their ideas up as the other staff carry them. The food in the evening was good. Overall I would say it's a nice place to stay. It will be good once all the refurbishment has been completed as the hotel inside is tired and needs modernising. For some reason the sausages, bacon, hash browns etc with the cooked breakfast were always very anemic and needed cooking more. I would recommend always asking for well done but even then could be better. Having said all of this I don't want to be too hard as overall the 13 nights we stayed were fantastic but I am sure once the refurbishment is completed and there are more staff I am confident all will be much better.

Cons: Cooked breakfast can be improved. Some staff need to improve their work level. On arrival we were booked into a room already occupied, which was awkward, but was sorted the next day. Seems to be a regular mix up of table numbers and room numbers at evening meals.

Really enjoyable, but staff makes it feel special

Pros: Barman was a standout. Really personable and remembered us from our last visit! Great service
