Great location for walks

Pros: Perfect location with walkway to walks with the dogs. Short walk to high street also. Everything we needed available in the home

Cons: Nothing we didnt like

Cosy and cheap

Pros: Plenty of rooms and good location near national cycle routes

Cons: Washing machine/dryer needed a service. Clothes came out smelling funky. Parking was a nightmare, very narrow street

Mountain Monkies......

Pros: The cottage was clean and had all the amenities we required for our short stop over. We were a group of friends looking for a place to stay that was cost effective and near to Scafell Pike, where we were going to climb one of the Wainwright's. Impressed with how quick the property warmed up. As we were leaving we bumped into the cleaner, who was really pleasant and spent a moment talking with us and asked us about our stay. She seemed genuinely interested, which was nice.

Cons: The cottage was a little creaky so you could hear every foot step but that is to be expected for type and age of property. Doors need locks. We were friends but not that kind of friend where we could use the bathroom with no locks. There was no garden, which would have been a bonus.

I'd recommend staying here!

Pros: Lovely stay! Nice and close to lakes and the sea. The cottage is comfortable and cozy. Kitchen is well equipped with oil, salt, tea, coffee and good utensils. The beds are really comfy and we loved how dark you could make the rooms. Lots of lovely local info in the property guide and good instructions on how everything works in the house.

Cons: There was only one regular towel and one hand towel per room of 2 people. I think it would be good if the property had a dustpan and brush for sweeping up bits that fall on the floor that aren't good for vacuums. We had a toddler with us so we had to do a lot of picking stuff up by hand. Not a huge issue though.

Very enjoyable and a lovely base for our weekend activities.

Pros: Very cosy and comfortable. Every little thing was thought of. As dog owners, we appreciated the extra items included to ensure our pup had everything he needed too.

Lilac Cottage is charming & peaceful. Cleator Moor is quiet, with plenty for active tourists to do

Pros: For us, the cottage was in a good location. It's well-maintained and decorated sympathetically. Truly, Lilac Cottage is sufficiently well-stocked, that we could have shown up with nothing more than personal belongings like clothing and the food we wanted to eat. The view is okay at ground level & improves the higher you go. Contact with the owner proved useful. The neighbours seem friendly. The neighbourhood 'quiet'. Few cars move around in the area, so we felt safe walking along the road, even though the area is well supplied with paths & walkways

Cons: I strongly recommend you avoid staying in Lilac Cottage if any of your party have mobility issues. The owner has clearly tried to avoid spoiling this house. So, the lower stairs have no railing & the upper stairs are quite narrow. The 3 bedrooms & 1 toilet are only accessible by stairs

A Great Base for walkers

Pros: Nice to have the downstairs shower room. The tumble dryer was a nice touch for the Lake District weather. Co-op around the corner and takeaway choices near by.

Cons: Wi-fi is not worth mentioning. Do not rely on this. EE will get a reception outside but signal is only ok in upstairs bedroom. Nothing that spoils your time there, just make sure you know in advance.
