Set in a grand Victorian mansion, YHA Langdale is a National Trust property with leafy grounds, cosy log fires and a restaurant. The Lake District hostel is situated between Elterwater and Grasmere. The bright and airy rooms feature modern bunk beds, and some have a private bathroom. The YHA also features a TV lounge and games room, and the balcony terrace has scenic views of Windermere. Guests can enjoy hearty evening meals and snacks in the restaurant, and there is also a barbecue area. YHA Langdale features a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area for self-catering guests. Pros: Oh my days. It was the first hostel I have stayed in before with my son. And it was an absolutely wonderful and magical experience, and full of the true British spirit with all different ethnicities. The staff are absolutely spectacular and my cup of tea indeed, so friendly you feel so safe and secure with them, and their kindness and willingness to help you enjoy your experience, is above and beyond the line of duty. The food was exceptional and the chef was absolutely amazing, with the best smile I have seen in a long time. The breakfast was equally amazing too in the morning. Highly recommend this magical place to anyone who would like to experience something new.

Great Langdale walking weekend

Pros: Beautiful old building in an amazing setting. Brilliant, helpful staff, comfy beds and amazing breakfast. Lots of spaces to relax.

Cons: No where to park. A motorbike was taking up potentionly 2 spaces? Dirty showers, only 1 out of 4 were hot! Cappucino was nearly £4 and was just throffy milk.

Perfect for hiking weekend

Pros: Everything you need for a hiking weekend and great value for money: same price as a campsite but we got a private room with private bathroom, great kitchen facilities, also serves food and drinks. Friendly staff too!

Cons: Noisy going to sleep but i think you’d expect that from a youth hostel, and for £12/pp/night you can’t complain!

Pros: Everything! Cheaper than camping! Better location than camping, you'd have to really, really like pitching a tent sorting out all your stuff etc etc etc. We rocked-up and had none of that, booked brekkie and went on our merry way......

Cons: Nothing cos miles better than camping!!!

Pros: Beautiful location, extremely friendly and helpful staff

Cons: Our radiator wasn't working and spent 2 nights slightly cold. Double blankets helped, though

Really good. Overall a brilliant place. Peaceful ambiance.

Pros: It was clean and kept well. Food was sound. The staff were exceptionally great. Helped me out as my phone charger died on my 8 peaks challenge and borrowed me one so I could charge my phone and ensure I met my alarm the next morning to set off back home to Sheffield.

Friendly staff, great building, peaceful location with view of a hill and lots of trees around it.

Pros: The location was good, the building is excellent and really interesting and lots of places to sit in the evening with views or cosier internal room. Good views from the windows in sitting and dining rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Other guests were interesting and chatty. Good kitchen with two fridges and a freezer plus all that you need for self catering. Plus the cooked breakfast set us up for a good days walking on our first day there.

Cons: Would have preferred dimmer lights in the toilet area for night time. I wore my dark glasses!
