Exceptional in every respect

Pros: Everything you could want from a country house hotel in the traditional sense. Not for those looking for spa treatments or swimming pools.

Very relaxing and enjoyable

Pros: Great location away from much of civilisation! Very pleasant hotel and grounds. Staff very caring and attentive. Food superb.

Cons: Very little. Dinner fully booked up for one of our two nights but that was not the hotel's fault.

Pros: This is a beautiful property in a lovely setting. A satnav is a useful accessory to find it, but it is definitely worth finding! We were breaking our journey on the way home from Scotland and saw it on Booking.com. We are so pleased that we did.

Cons: Can’t think of anything that we weren’t happy with.

A very relaxing stay in a beautiful, peaceful setting with excellent food and service

Pros: Overwater hall is in a very quiet location surrounded by countryside, but within easy reach of local attractions. The hall is very traditional and comfortable. The gardens are lovely, enjoyed watching the red squirrels and birds with a drink on the lawn. The food was excellent, the menu varied and all dishes beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and offered a traditional service. They made our dog very welcome and were happy for us to eat with our dog in the bar.

Cons: There is poor WiFi access, this wasn’t so important to us as we were glad of the peace but may be important to others.

Highly recommend staying here!

Pros: Welcoming staff, beautiful building/rooms, lovely gardens/surroundings, easy to get to some nice walks nearby (Binsey/Sale Fell), delicious breakfast. Overhearing nearly every other guest say that they've stayed many times before gives confidence that it's a good hotel.

Cons: Phone signal was non-existent, and the WiFi didn't work from the room (needed to stand near the downstairs reception to get a small amount of WiFi). It didn't impact our stay (if anything, it improved it), but worth noting in case it's a necessity.
