Fern Howe Guest House

Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Fern Howe Guest House. The location is fantastic, surrounded by breathtaking outdoor scenery and beautiful views in every direction. It’s the perfect base for exploring the Lake District. The food was excellent, and everything felt fresh and well prepared. The lady who served us was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. We felt genuinely looked after throughout our stay.

Cons: Nothing significant to mention. We had a really pleasant stay and would happily return.

Pros: Really friendly and welcoming staff. Easy check in process and flexible options for checking in. The location is wonderful.

Pros: Lovely place in beautiful location, tasty breakfast and a cake as a bonus ;)

Pros: Immaculately clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished rooms. Complimentary cake on arrival! Breakfast menu organised in a way which helps reduce waste. Fabulous views from the breakfast room. Walking distance from a nice, dog friendly pub. OS map of Lake District wallpaper near the drying room.

In general it's okay although maybe a bit overpriced.

Pros: It's about 5 minutes drive from the lake. It's on top of the hill and you clearly see surroundings and the hills nearby. I arrived late at about 10 pm and there were automatic lockers with the room cards inside. You have to put the breakfast order by 6 pm, we did it much later and still get our breakfast in the morning. There is free car park next to the hotel.

Cons: In general it's okay although maybe a bit overpriced.

Lovely place, great location, immaculately clean, great value.

Pros: This is great value for money. The location is great with stunning views and a short walk to the local pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was lovely and the owner was lovely too.

Cons: Feel bad for even mentioning a negative as it was such good value for money, but the rooms were tiny. We’re a family of 4 and not a lot of room. However, for the price we can’t complain.

Excellent value for money and perfect quiet location with everything you need in the village.

Pros: Parking, coffee & cakes in the public lounge, comfy room & facilities - amazing big breakfast. Despite being in a small village, there are plenty local services & easy to walk to from the property. Excellent value for money and perfect for walkers.

Abolsutely wonderful. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Pros: Everything! Very clear arrival instructions and extras like biscuits and hot chocolates in the room (all replenished). The cake in the afternoon was lovely. Board games to borrow for the children. Breakfast was huge and delicious. Honestly, it was so worth getting up early for! We liked the building, cleanliness (absolutely spotless), use of the drying room, location (close to Keswick but also the lovely Braithwaite for a walkable evening meal). We liked that there were fans in the cupboard (we like white noise at night) and a nightlight in the adjoining kids’ room as well as a child proof socket cover (so thoughtful). And the toiletries were lovely too. I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

Cons: Even on a double bed, a king sized duvet is needed. I found that there wasn’t enough to cover us both comfortably when sleeping on our sides so I had to use the throw (another nice touch)

Nice spot in Cumbria

Pros: The English breakfast was really good, including the vegetarian option. The room was very clean and comfortable. The surroundings were quiet and nice.

Cons: The parking slots are quite narrow, so it may need some care while parking.
